Description
The National 35 Sprinty BC is a vintage 35 mm film camera produced in India in the late 1970s by National Instruments Ltd. of Calcutta (Kolkata) based on the design and tooling of the German Regula Sprinty BC camera from the mid-1960s. It represents one of India’s early efforts at local camera manufacturing, copying the simple viewfinder camera mechanics of the original Regula Sprinty BC with basic shutter and aperture controls, fixed lens, and zone focus typical of consumer cameras of that era. Though production didn’t last long and the company eventually shut down, the National 35 holds historical interest as a locally made analogue camera from a time when Indian photographic equipment was rare.
