Description
The RevueFlex 1000s is a vintage 35mm SLR camera that was produced in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It was sold under the Revue brand, which was the house brand for the German mail-order company Quelle. The camera is essentially a rebranded version of the Praktica L series, specifically the Praktica LTL.
Key Features:
- Lens Mount: M42 screw mount, which was popular at the time and compatible with a wide range of lenses.
- Shutter: Focal-plane shutter with speeds ranging from 1/1000 second to 1 second, plus Bulb mode.
- Light Meter: Built-in light meter, usually a match-needle type, powered by a battery. The light meter is coupled with the shutter speed dial and aperture settings.
- Viewfinder: Optical viewfinder with a microprism spot for focusing assistance.
- Film Advance: Manual film advance lever.
- Build Quality: Solid, metal body typical of the era, with a mechanical operation that doesn’t rely heavily on electronics.
Collectibility and Use:
The RevueFlex 1000s is appreciated by collectors and photography enthusiasts who enjoy using vintage cameras. Its all-mechanical design means it can still be used today with 35mm film, provided it’s in good working condition. The M42 lens mount also gives it versatility, as many excellent vintage lenses were made for this mount.
If you’re considering using or collecting one, check the condition of the light meter, shutter speeds, and lens compatibility. Due to its age, some cameras might require maintenance or repairs.
